Me and my family order food here all the time. I think its good..I have had better mexican food but I do got to hand it to Marias there mexican rice is delicious and on point and there shrimp cocktail is the BOMB..it comes with onion, tomato cilantro, avocado, and 20 big huge butterfly shrimp, its not the usual cut up little pieces of shrimp cocktail that everyone sells. Its good and filling. Enjoy :)

Small family run restaurant. The food is good and delicious. They are always busy and have become our fall back plan when we need food in a hurry.

THE GOOD: They ran out of Coke so they went and bought some next door and gave it to us. THE BAD: We have visited this place a few times since we have lived in San Pedro and we loved it until last week when we are there and my wife found a long piece of hair in her Chile plate..... What would you do?

On a day where I started drinking at 1130am at the bar right across the street, I was so hungry I coulda ate a shoe. A friend, my Gf and I ran over to this place expecting heaven. Instead, we found a water down version of Heaven with Louie Anderson as Jesus. Heres how it goes. Sit down, get salsa and chips, usually a good thing, as long as the salsa is good. However this one was not. Super bland, taste like gum from under a desk. Look through the menu and decide on A combo plate with a Chile relleno and a taco. Service isn't bad and thus the reason why they don't have a 1 star. Get my food and it looks decent, like it might actually taste well. Take a bite of the taco, super bland, boring carne asada with minimal taste. Try the chile relleno and I notice they use Anaheim chiles, which I think are horrible for Chile rellenos. The rice was ok, kinda bland as well. The GF got a chicken burrito and actually said it was decent. So another reason I didnt give it a 1 star. Buddy got the nachos and I tried and thought they were ok, and then put onion and cilantro on it and made it really good. Oh, and I also got a small bowl of menudo for the soup and to which to my suprise was VERY good. I would actually come in on a Saturday or Sunday just for that. All in all, besides the Menudo, the food was bland and flavorless, exactly how white washed Mexican food is to be expected. P.S The price was awesome as well, 23 bucks for 3 people. If you're a fan of menudo, go there just for that, that's all.

Alpastor torta and the Carne asada nachos are my fav's. Almost everything on the menu is worth trying. Great prices and friendly service.

Albondigas soup was great. Big chunks of vegetables and large meatballs. More than enough for one person!! Served with rice, tortillas, lime, onions, cilantro, & oregano. Delicious!

I hadnt been in years until recently and I was pleasantly surprised. Good Food and Good Prices and I love that they have Orange Bang and its close by.

Maria's is a good example of a hole-in-the-wall that serves good basic mexican food with an authentic feel. That said, stick with the inside restaurant, the outdoor taco cart (weekend nights) leaves much to be desired, and their delivery service is very slow. Pros: good food, low prices, friendly staff. Cons: marginal neighborhood, no "atmosphere," outside taco cart is not very good.

Overall... food, prices, and location is good. Next to the cheapest laundromat in town. SERVICE: the people that work there are wicked nice and helpful, pretty much always. I've been here a few times, and they deliever and you can call in orders.

  • Dustin W.

The food is pretty good here... the service is good too and the prices are very friendly! I always get the cheese enchilada's and they are amazing! The Chili Verde is also very good and the chicken soup that you get with the dinner's is worth getting in its own. I have also had the flautas here and they are excellent. My girlfriend gets the chicken Tamales and she likes them but im not a fan to be honest... all in all its good cheap mexican food worth a visit!

  • Franz K.

First off, Maria's has a great salsa. It's fairly unique and alone can be worth the trip. That being said, everything else is standard. The servings are huge, cheap, and tasty, but there aren't any flavors or preparations you haven't had elsewhere. If you're feeling lazy and you live in Pedro, they do deliver, which is pretty awesome.

An extra star because of it's price and portions served. And service. I had their chorizo wet omelet. It came with rice, beans, torilla, and a cup of coffee for $7.50. The omelet was good. Good flavor on the rice and beans also. They also have a special on 12 taquitos(chicken or beef) for $11.00. They carry a kid's menu too.

  • Lolo J.

The ABLONDIGAS are out of this world, the price is right, the portions huge. Can't comment on the atmosphere cause I've only ever gotten take out.

  • Erin N.

My tostada was filling but I always wonder why I should pay the same for a bean tostada as someone ordering a beef tostada. Otherwise, I loved the place. My sister loves the salsa. It's nice... yup.

Maria's has great food, a large selection, and agreeable prices. I go to this cafe often for lunch-U can enjoy a tasty torta, a huge bowl of albondagas, or if you're feeling a light meal some fresh ceviche, all with drink for less than $10. The atmosphere is cafe casual, and they decorate for the holidays.

  • vera o.

went here for lunch because i had to wash an over sized comforter in the laundry mat next door. i had the taco plate. it was ordinary, the rice was decent & the beans were good. the salsa was ok. i would go back again if i had to use the laundry mat again. i wouldnt make a special trip there for lunch though.

  • nicole coco d.

best flautas ever! even better with the lunch special. it includes a drink! and i love mixing salsa with my ranch. fresh jugos is always a plus too.

I've only been here once, but what I had was great. I had the chilaquiles w/rice and beans. It was great. I look forward to eating here again because it has been very hard to find actual GOOD Mexican food. This is one of 3 good Mexican restaurants that I've had (Teresa's in El Segundo and Los Taquitos in Inglewood).

    (4)
  • K M.

Pretty decent food and giant portions for the price. Overall the service is good, friendly, and pretty fast. The salsa is the bomb - pretty hot - but yummy. Sometimes we go over just to get some salsa to serve with homemade tacos. In summers past they've done nightly dinner specials grilled up on the sidewalk out front with some sweet deals - like $1 tortas or something outrageous like that. I don't know if they really deserve 3 stars but the one thing that stands out in memory is that one time (out of like 30 trips) I found a little bread mold on my torta roll. That was kind of a turnoff. But really, like the other 29 times we've eaten there or taken out, the food has been fine. I guess the guacamole is the other reason for the low rating - it's really not good and not really even guacamole. It has this weird shiny consistency and a bland taste, evidence that it has some kind of non-avocado filler. Not at all what an authentic Mexican restaurant should be serving. But other than that, the food is good, really!

This is a very simple place with great inexpensive food. I love the albondigas soup & chili rellenos. The horchata is great also.

  • sophia e.

i must admit they do have very unique salsa, i really enjoy the salsa and chips. i always order the beef tacos and albondagas both are very good and my fav.

  • Chris R.

I've yet to have food delivered but I'm literally walking distance so I just walk over. They're pretty nice and fast. I typically order the al pastor burrito or tacos and it's been really good. The food is always hot. Their salsa is also good and spicy. I've never had to wait that long and it's so close to my house. I knocked it down 1 star because I've seen the chefs using microwaves to reheat food and that's kind of gross.

    (4)
  • Y.J. D.

I've really tried to give this place a chance, and a second chance, and even a third...but I won't order from here again. I get the food delivered and there's oil leaking out of bags, sauce and soup dripping out of the containers and onto my arms and floor. But the guy just stands there like nothing is amiss. So I'm thinking okay, the presentation is a mess but worth it if the food is amazing! And I had high hopes...three times. The food is not amazing. Right now I have wicked stomach problems that I can't describe, and my belly is just ROLLING and making the worst sounds. Like I am suffering from food poisoning. The chicken smelled almost rancid, and everything is soaked in oil. Sorry, Maria's, but this is Southern California, and there are a bagillion other Mexican joints better than yours.

I dont know how this place gets a higher rating than Burrito Factory., My reasons for that is because 1) they are stingy with their salsa, 2) the people who take the orders on the phone are rude and 3) the drivers seem confused and indifferent towards me when they drop off my food. I appreciate their large portions but I really do not feel that it is anything special... it's almost like they want to dump off their food on you because it's so mediocre that even they wouldn't eat it. With a burrito that big you should be able to get more salsa. I wasn't really into the salsa to begin with but I absolutely despise when restaurants are cheap with their salsa / silverware. It takes some real good food to make me order again if I didn't get the right things the first time. Also I am not sure if they cook with lard or not. With the amount of grease that came in my nachos, I think they do. That is a huge downside. I've seen lent specials, which is great. But they also need to consider that if a customer is going to order for lent, chances are they are going to also order for a senior and this amount of grease is just not acceptable to a person's artieries.

Ordered a veggie omelette plate to go and it was a waste of nine bucks. I asked to sub hash browns for the rice and beans and was told that hash browns were already included. My fault for not checking the food before I left, but when I got home 1) no hash browns and 2) my omelette was completely submerged in some kind of sauce. I guess they thought I ordered a wet burrito. I'll stick with Pronto's.

I'm in love with their carnitas burritos!! We swore off Jolly Burrito and we now get our burrito/torta fix from Maria's. Free, fast delivery and polite delivery drivers. Keep it up, Maria's!

  • Mrs M.

Service was good we asked for chilaquiles and the outcome was not that great . Tortilla were soggy I like over easy egg on top and they had scrambled the cheese wasn't even melted. But had to give them an additional star for the .02 discount for the coffee lol don't believe me look at pic lmao

  • Angel M.

No thanks. The carne asada tacos had chopped up fat with a little meat. I let the girl know and she told me "that's how it comes." We ended up leaving other two tacos untouched on the table. What a waste.

It's long but worth the read: My boyfriend and I decided to venture off of our normal, Troys and The Burrito Factory. The two main places within walking distance of our home. When you walk in, it looks like a little hole in the wall, family ran Mexican food place. Decorations and what n not. Kid friendly as we had our baby and there's a tv or two. You seat yourself and a waitress brings you chips and salsa and takes your drink order. Their menu is really no different from anywhere else. They offer a few different things and I wanted try them all! Like flautas, which look like large taquitos, but I didn't get them. We live at the Burrito Factory and always get carne asada burritos and rice! At Maria's, the chips were so over cooked they were like rocks. I tried the carne asada fries. Over-cooked brown and flavorless French fries and carne asada topped with shredded cheese. The meat tasted just like ground beef but with a different texture and no flavor. An amazing portion size, enough for two. BUMMER! I was excited about those. My boyfriend ordered two chicken tamales, rice and beans. The tamales came with green wet sauce. Those were pretty good, I must admit, but I haven't had tamales from too many places to compare. The rice, I SWEAR came from a bag tossed into the microwave (which they have 2 of so I'm wondering what's really fresh there... As someone else stated.) Very bland. I didn't try the beans so no comment on those, but refried beans are pretty much the same everywhere. To top off a not so great meal, I had to wait 10+ minutes for a churro TO GO! I ordered at the counter, saw a lady come out with it 2 mins later and it sat there. On the counter. I asked about it and the cashier said to wait a moment. I asked for my money back because I wasn't going to wait over 5 mins for my churro that was sitting there and I was told they can't open the register. SERIOUSLY?! So I waited. And it was dry and tasted like burnt toast. The cream or whatever in the center was decent. Boyfriend says 'food was just mediocre as was the entire place itself. I prefer troys burgers and burrito factory' so needless to say, we more than likely will not go back. I'm only giving 2 stars. For their horchata and tamales. I would recommend elsewhere.

Nothing good to say! Service was terrible. Employee that was taking orders was rude. The order came out wrong. Had to go back. Employee continued to tell me I never said things but I showed her the receipt that was poof of my order. Charged me for things that were not added in my burrito. Very poor efforts!

  • DeLaine P.

I was already going to give them 5*, but tonight they really did the trick. I ordered through GrubHub and they called me a few minutes after submitting my order to let me know they were out of cheescake. Not a big deal, but when my food arrived I discovered that they'd upgraded my breakfast combo to the large one at no extra charge, and the carne asada burrito was positively huge this time. They have always been quick to deliver even late at night near their closing time; food has always been hot, fresh & well made; and you can't beat the prices. I couldn't be happier - I highly recommend.

Not sure what I can say about Maria's except it earned a 3 star. Not the best but not the worst, that I've come across. If your hungry and want something hooked up with in 5-10minutes this is the place. If you're looking for something tastier and fancier look else where.

  • Mike F.

They had me on hold for 15 minutes and then hung the phone up on my call.. I called back to get nothing but ATTITUDE from their worker.. Asking do I want to order or Not.. I said I would like to talk to their Manager to have them hang the phone up on me AGAIN.. REALLY BAD customer service or care for their customers..

A lot of locals recommended this place, but the taco where not very good. I had chicken, chorizo, and al Pastor. None were favorable, I feel like I make better Mexican food....I'm not Mexican. Plus my stomach was jacked all day from it. I'm not coming back and it's too bad, because I love to support local business.

Yesterday was the second time I have ordered a large amount of tacquitos from Maria's and here are the problems I have had, that have now brought me to the point that I will never go back. HERE IS THW PLAY BY PLAY--- 1. I called at 11 am to place an order to pick up at 430pm. The girl put me on hold and hung up, then the second time I called back, I got major attitude. 2. At 445 pm, I walked inside and wasn't acknowledged by the girl standing in front of me at the counter in front of me. I had to say "um hi? I'm Here to pick up an 2 orders of tacquitos at 430" she looked at me like I had 10 eyes, said something to one of the cooks, he took the white slip with my order on it, out of the kitchen printer, walked Over to grab a what looked like a used green cookie sheet walked into the freezer and put the frozen taquitos on the green pan, then he dumped them Into the fryer.. The biggest part of me Wanted to walk out! I was disgusted. I asked the girl at the front "are those the taquitos for my order" she said "yes, we are doing them now so they didn't get cold" I said "oh wow. And they are frozen? I could have gone to the store and paid 10 dollars for a lot more than 24 frozen taquitos" she then said something to the cook and walked away. I will never order anything from there again..

OMG... very disappointed after going to this place twice. First time, thought they were having a bad day. Second visit comfirms I won't be returning. The tostada was plain gross. Chicken tastes funny. Tortilla soggy. Salsa not that great. The only thing that was edible were the nachos and the carnitas. I'll stick to burrito factory although their food has gone down the tubes lately as well, MUCH better than this place.

  • Gomez A.

was to have food delivered. They never showed up although my credit card was billed. I called the restaurant and they said they were closed. I asked them the status about my food that was ordered to be delivered and the response was "I don't know anything about that" click.....

  • Jamie G.

My husband and I order delivery from here every so often & we have ALWAYS loved the food! We've ordered tacos, tamales, hamburgers, chile verde, burritos, taquitos.. we've never been disappointed. Flavorful, traditional Mexican food!

  • Molly H.

For carne asada, go to isaacs in wilmington. For al pastor & lengua, go to las brisas on pacific. For everything else Mexican food wise, come here. Best albondigas, Spanish rice, nachos, tacos, and about average carnitas. Healthy portions if you are porky, or a porky eater like me. I've always had good customer service here also if there even is a realm in which to put service received from a nice little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Nice girl at the front always running the register. She knows my name!!

    (4)
  • Manda N.

We eat here pretty often out of pure convenience. The food is just "okay", nothing spectacular. I typically order the chicken flautas plate, comes with rice and beans. The flautas are always soggy and not very attractive to the eye. Their burritos are large and pretty darn tasty, just wish I didnt have to tell them that I want cilantro and onions inside the burrito. If you do not order it, the burritos will just come with an overload of meat and beans....and that's about it. One thing I can say is, I keep coming back for their salsa. It has amazing flavor and just the right amount of kick.

  • Karen R.

Bad customer service received the wrong order the first time called to return it the second time the food arrived I received it with the wrong condiments I called angry only to get attitude from the girl working their saying I would have to wait half an hour when this was their mistake will not coming back to this place anymore.

    (1)
  • Shaunea H.

Too bad you can't give zero stars. I don't think I'll be returning after tonight. Let me just start by saying that I have never had any issues coming here in the past in all aspects (customer service, quality of food, accuracy of order). I placed a phone order. Came to pick it up and when I walked in, I could tell they were busy, which I DO NOT mind waiting patiently, what bothered me, however, was there were 3 people up front and all I got was one girl who smiled at me- no one said anything to me. They just went about their business. Good customer service usually involves acknowledging customers and telling them something along the lines of 'I'll be with you in just a minute' so I know you actually do see me. I let them go about their stuff and just brushed it off as whatever. Eventually I was helped, paid for the food and waited bc they were still packing it. So that wasn't a huge deal and I was ok. We got home then found out that the Chile Verde plate was missing the flour tortilla, and we didn't get our Kid's sprite for the kid's enchilada combo. Ok... By this time I'm mildly annoyed but I'm still just chalking it up to a whatever night. Then, I realize one of my kids is not wanting to eat, so I taste her kid's enchilada and I was grossed out!!!! The enchilada tastes like someone put lotion or fragrance soap in it!!! I had my hubby taste it to make sure I wasn't just going loco but no, he agreed it tasted WAY off and like there was soap or lotion in it. That was pretty much the straw that broke this camel's back. Every time I have ordered from them, this is the same exact order we have had and I have NEVER had the order messed up or tasting like this. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

    (1)
  • Jay G.

I really enjoyed their food. The enchiladas were pretty good, as were their rice and beans. But what really reeled me in was their chicken taco and their flan. I will definitely be back here.

  • Elysian G.

This place is located in a small corner shopping strip. I was in the mood for some nachos & decided to check this place out for the first time, who knows this might be my new spot. I ordered the asada nachos & a Chile relleno. The Chile relleno was tasteless, the nachos were ok. The meat was not even asada style it was just ground beef. The young lady behind the counter was polite & there is 2 eating areas. I doubt ill be coming back, nothing personal.

Grungeous, most disgusting, pathetic, throw-em-up burrito I've ever had in my entire life. I stopped a harbor patrol officer and he referred me to this place. Should known that he likes it because he has a cast iron stomach. It has a small parking lot, And cars back in just feet from the door Pumping the nice exhaust fumes right where I'm sitting. Chips are stale...so I flicked them at the birds They didn't like them either. Burrito sauce tasted like the smell of diesel fuel Very greasy, tasteless, and sickening. To my surprise, my starving friend left his tacos Highly unusual, because he will eat anything that crawls There are questionable characters as stated by another yelper, The best thing about this place is leaving the parking lot.

poor customer service, I have ordered from them twice and both times they forgot part of my order then refused to bring it saying it wasn't part of my combo when the menu clearly says the combo comes with rice and beans. I will never order from them again.

worse fish tacos ever. some conglomerate mess of soggy flour tortillas, onions, peppers, and fish that took 25mins of waiting to order for takeout. avoid.

  • Synyster G.

Use to be an amazing place for big groups of people because they make great bean and cheese burrito platters and tacquito platters. Until recently, they've started doing what I've never seen done at a Mexican restaurant. Salsa is not included. You must pay an additional fee if you would like salsa, and nonetheless, they charge you $7.00 for a quart of it. That's more than the price of a burrito! I was extremely disappointed, and I hope they realize that alot of people are as well. I most likely will not be eating here again until they realize they are dealing with business the wrong way for there regular customers.

    (2)

The Posole was not good at all. No flavor, not much hominy. Sad but true. We will not recommend it ever.

Why are these yelpers giving such negative feedback on one of the most iconic Mexican food establishments in San Pedro? this place is the best! Owned by a very smart and ingenious person. The food is great and all other negative feedbacks are bologna. Go eat dirty soggy food elsewhere if you don want quality.

Just had Maria's delivered to my apartment and I can say if I have another lazy day where even picking up take out is too much for me to tolerate, I will be ordering again. We ordered 1 carne asada wet burrito meal (comes with rice, beans, and choice of soup or salad), a single carne asada burrito, and an order of chicken flautas. When we received our food we noticed one of our burritos was missing. BUMMER! I hate when that happens :/ Luckily... those burritos are monstrous and the portions are generous. We were able to easily share our meal and both my bf and I were left satiated. And that's saying a lot! That man can eat his fair share and then some! The flautas were simple but tasty, the guacamole was average, and the burrito was filling. I especially liked that there wasn't much gristle on the meat. The soup we got with our meal was albondigas and it wasn't very impressive. It was very greasy and lacked flavor. The free chips and salsa were also a nice touch and we were able to scoop up pieces of our wet burrito with them. Overall, it was a good meal. The forgotten burrito was a blessing in disguise, and they deliver!

Wow, what a terrible experience my family and I had at this eating establishment recently. We have been patrons of this restaurant for many years. However, our last visit was enough to prevent us from ever returning to this place again. We went to the restaurant for a simple meal of albondigas soup, and ended up with only a bowl of frustration! We placed an order for three albondigas soup with the usual fixings. The waitress brought some butter for our tortillas and left. After about 20 minutes, I asked about the status of our order, and I was told the soup was on its way. I sat down, and after another 10 minutes of waiting, the waitress brought one bowl of soup without the usual fixings. The waitress left, and we inquired again about the status of the remaining order. We were THEN informed that there was no more soup!!!!! They had ran out of soup and only had CHICKEN NOODLE soup left. I informed them that I was not in the mood for chicken noodle, and was extremely upset that we waited so long to find out that there was not enough soup for our order. We also never received our tortillas that were ordered to go with the soup, although, we did receive the butter. The waitress apologized and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager apologized, and then proceeded to charge me for the one INCOMPLETE order that we did receive. We asked for a container to go, and they were not accommodating and acted liked they did not want us to take the INCOMPLETE soup that was paid for. After coming here for many years, we are very disappointed with how the situation was handled. We understand that mistakes happen, but this was inexcusable to allow your patrons to wait 30-45 minutes before they are informed that there was not enough food to accommodate the order. Additionally, the audacity to charge for an incomplete order is beyond comprehension, and not a show of adequate customer service. Unfortunately, this experience has discouraged us from ever returning here to eat again, and I would not recommend this place for others. Luckily, we went to Nicco's (check them out, seriously), and we received outstanding customer service. In fact, we were practically in and out in less time waiting for our soup at Maria's, which never arrived. And we happily discovered another place with better albondigas soup. We finally got our soup fix, including the fixings! Thank you.

This place is great if you want some delivery! Minimum 10 bucks, I ordered 2 and 2 ceviche tostadas when it arrived I found my self opening two big containers with a lot of ceviche topped with avocado, and garnished with lime. They send you way more tostadas like 10 -15 and a bag of chips and salsa!!! All this for like 12 bucks!!! I really like the flavor of the food and the fact that they delivered it to my door!:) You must give it a try!

Thursday-Sunday Maria's goes just outside the restaurant to bring her food to the street. Sunday night, last night, we were all sitting on the couch watching "Old Yeller". The son and dil's cocker spaniel passed and we were sad one minute and laughing the next. Didn't want to cook, that's for sure. A light went on in Brian's head, "Maria's mmmmm, burritos"! "Wait it's Sunday night, $1 taco night"! After he thought for a moment he remembered Maria had to up her price 25 cents. Dinner for 4 for about $13 total. Chicken taco, carne asada taco, and the marinated pork variety of which I cannot remember the correct Mexican term. No dishes, happy faces and full tummies. Maria fit the bill perfectly!

Everything at this place is microwaved. Thats what I noticed waiting for a wet carne asada burrito which is loaded with beans and very little meat. Not worth 8 something one of the worst burritos i've had.

I could have gone anywhere to spend my $10 for lunch this Sunday and for some reason I came here... I've been a customer here a few times a year over the last 10 + years. The food here is nothing amazing but in San Pedro where you are recklessly taking your chances eating out I have always felt relatively safe, the service here is usually decent, I had never had a bad experience. On this occasion after talking my friend into even coming here against his major protest, I ordered a Chili Relleno Burrito "No Beans" as I have every time and tried a Fish Taco for the first time... to Go. I waited the usual 10 min, took my order, made my 10 min drive home. The Fish Taco... I don't know what was going on in the box for 1 fish taco, confusing, looked like an entire green pepper, half an onion, very large chunks of fish, other unexplainable stuff, it didn't smell very good, the fish didn't taste great and the whole thing looked like a garbage can, which is where it quickly ended up after being passed around to a few usually hungry friends who weren't brave enough to even try a bite. Think I paid about $3 for it and feel much better off for all of us that it was put to rest before it could harm anyone. Some might feel like they're "getting their money's worth" out of a portion like that crammed into a burger box, I saw it as hard to understand and impossible to eat. The Chilli Relleno Burrito "No Beans" Wrong! Ok, I get it if you make a mistake, no big deal, the burrito was made all beans, no rice and for some reason they even gave me a side of beans in the box and a pile of pico de gilo where a salad usually go's, a little bag of chips, so I wrap it up and go back, I explain, make the exchange, the girl behind the counter didn't seem to be happy with me and I noticed that she explained to a few of her co-workers that I had made a mistake ordering with my confusing english language, I get it, nobody wants to be at fault or whatever, I didn't even give that a second thought. I wait for my food again, my order is up so it's time to go and I don't expect special treatment but the girl handed me the box like "yeah thanks"... Ok, the same now older, colder bag of chips, no salsa, no utensils, no napkins, no service, no smile and no concern for my time, my monetary contribution or me as a return customer. This bothered me and I brought it to the attention of the girl behind the counter that I wasn't completely happy with my experience, that I wasn't completely happy with a lack of care and service, the attention to detail to give me back a bean smeared cold bag of chips and no accessories to eat my lunch after driving around in circles and investing 40 min waiting on a burrito, I felt that I had been pretty fair at understanding the mistake that had been made and that they were sending a message that they didn't really care weather I was happy with my order or not and if I would return as a customer. The response by the girl employed here to take peoples orders and make sure that the customers are happy, the same girl that mistakenly screwed up my order was, as she counted the register cash refusing to even make eye contact with me, that "I should have asked nicer and said please" for all of the normal conveniences one would expect when paying someone who owns a local business to make them lunch. The burrito was bland, kinda runny and weird and tasted a bit like soap, my friend who had ordered the same burrito with no modifications and wet agreed to the taste of something clean and bubbly and I took note that he only ate about 1/3 before throwing it away, I took about two bites before throwing mine away and from the second the girl at the counter handed it to me felt that I would have gotten far more satisfaction out of my lunching experience if I had just dumped the whole thing on the counter for the girl with the smug attitude to actually have to work turning my money into their money cleaning up my garbage instead of attempting to make lunch out of it.

Tortas and burritos are excellent! However, a few problems keep me from coming here on a more consistent basis. The clientele is somewhat shady and the parking lot is always congested. As previously noted, you get a lot of questionable characters from the bar and liquor store across the street, so this place may not be for everyone.

Love to order their tray of bean and cheese burritos. They are great for parties and small for the kids. They taste so good. One of the best bean and cheese burrito I have ever had.

I have patronized this restaurant for about a year now. I order online for delivery. I usually order either 6 Carnitas Taquitos and Cheese Chips or Chile Verdes Lunch or a Chile Verdes Burrito Lunch Special. All meals are very tasty for sure. If by chance- there is a mistake with an order- like maybe forgetting to bring tortillas with an order or bringing the wrong drink. Granted it is an inconvenience- as long as you call or let them know when you order again- they will rectify the situation- to the customers satisfaction. As I type this right now- I am eating leftover Cheese Chips that I ordered online last night- by the way- on the previous order for some reason the Cheese Chips were put into the To-Go container that is commonly used for combination meals (not the flat inside container- the one with two sections on top- one for beans and the other for rice-and the bottom part for the entrée). I knew that was different than any previous Cheese Chips- I didn't call them when it happened- But when I ordered again about a week later- I mentioned it on the online order and when I ordered Cheese Chips on the order- they not only filled the container pretty with Cheese Chips but they put Carnitas on top of them! I definitely enjoy their meals and it's a bonus that they are just minutes away from my house.

I order delivery from Maria's. They are reasonable, prompt and the food is good. My faves are the beef tacos, abondigas soup, and taquitos. However, when ordering taquitos, I ask that they leave the lettuce out of the guacamole. Their salsa is yummy too!

Love this place whenever I'm in SP. The chilaquiles are the best I've had. I'm pretty picky with food, but especially with Mexican food. The service is good, they're very friendly. Love this place!

Great local Mexican Restaurant! Been going there for years and food always taste great. Service is excellent and the owner is always friendly to customers. Just a great little whole in the wall place with great food. Albondigas soup is out of this world as are most items. Don't share with too many people as the place is usually busy enough.

I've never been inside the restaurant because I usually order delivery. I've been fairly pleased with the service and food. I've tried the fruit plates, albondigas soup, salad, enchilada combo plates, tacos, and nachos which are all pretty good. Prices are low portions are large. Delivery time is usually very quick . I love the salsa and guacamole. Will definitely continue to order delivery in the future.

Hungry one late night. Had just dropped my uncle at LAX, and me, dad and the wife had to stay in San Pedro to take care of his place. I was craving Mexican food. I already had my mind made up. BURRITO FACTORY. My dad, for whatever reason, hates the Burrito Factory. Me and the wife love it. He fought, and fought, and won. He told me Maria's is wayy better then the Burrito Factory. I went in ready to hate the place. The decor was all valentines day, even though valentines had already passed. I ordered a carne asada burrito, red wet, with only sour creme in it. It was awesome. Huge, stuffed with carne asada and sour creme. It was great, and it took the Burrito Factories crown that night. I still love the Factory, but Maria's has got it beat for me at the moment. My wife wasn't impressed with Maria's. Funny thing happened while we were eating. Some lady was bitching at one of the workers about her order taking too long. The lady gave up and told her to cancel it, and just bill her for what they had already eaten. The bill was $16. She freaked out, and kept telling the worker "$16 FOR CHEESE CHIPS AND SOUP!?" This place is good. I will definitely get my burrito fix here next time I'm in Pedro.

This is a hidden little gem of San Pedro. For the price, the food is good, especially during lunch. They have WONDERFUL Orange Bang and Horchatas! The Salsa can be really hot on certain days, I guess it depends on who made it that day. I usually get the two enchiladas a beef and cheese one with rice and beans...fabulous! The dining area is really casual and you can expect to find some of the local nut cases wondering around asking for change...just ignore them...don't give them money...and make your way inside. Also this place is GREAT for catering!!! For a reasonable price you get a ton of food that is packed perfectly for big groups. I'm not sure why but I actually like their catered food more than the food that I get when I order in the restaurant. Anyways, give this place a try and at the very least you won't leave here hungry!

I gave Maria's a 4 only because of decor and location. Not the best, but wait until you try the food. Located in a small strip mall near the marina, Maria's offers authentic and delicious Mexican food. Not fancy...just good. Their staff is friendly and timely, never hovering, but always available for that second cup of coffee. What more would you want? My Mom loved their carne asada tacos, and I love every thing else, especially their tortas. This is the perfect stop before a day on the water or on your way home from the beach. Enjoy!

Whatever you do don't waste your money on their shrimp cocktails, they're disgusting! Parking is minuscule! Inside of this restaurant is just unattractive; depressing; unappealing Over piced Save time and money: run!

The food was delicious, lunch specials are a great bargain. The food was spicy but gave it a nice flavor, I had the albondigas soup. Also noticed their .99¢ taco special Fri-Sat-Sun after 4PM.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
